Growing Closer to God with Guided Meditation
Welcome to the new season of the podcast, now titled "Growing Closer to God with Guided Meditation"!
Join your host, Pastor Robert Young, as we embark on a journey of spiritual exploration and renewal. This podcast is designed to help you deepen your faith and find inner peace through calming, reflective, and transformative meditative practices inspired by scripture.
Our Evolution
While the podcast, formerly known as Not Your Parent's Religion, focused in Seasons 1 and 2 on correcting misinformation and myths about religious beliefs and the teaching of Jesus Christ, the program has evolved. In Season 3, we began drawing closer to God with guided meditations, exploring all the details of why and how to meditate, and discussing the Biblical origins of Christian meditations.
With over 30 years of experience in Church planting and mentoring other Pastors, and 30+ years of training leaders in evangelism/discipleship, Pastor Young is here to guide you through these moments of stillness and connection with God.
What to Expect in Season 4
We are excited to return with Season 4 starting Sunday, October 5. We will continue to offer a structured weekly schedule:
- Sundays: Our weekly guided meditation episode.
- Monday through Friday: Daily devotions and reflections that expand on the topic of the Sunday meditations.
- Wednesdays: Audio episodes of our House Church series. This series reflects the Bible's teaching that believers should gather together for corporate worship, fellowship, encouragement, and even admonishment.
For those seeking an enhanced experience, we are adding video versions of the meditations and devotions to our Patreon page. These videos are designed to give you a more immersive experience as you meditate on the Father, His teachings, and His presence.
Tune in each week as we lead you on this path to connecting more deeply with God.

Walking in The Grace God Provides: Responding in Willing Surrender | Monday Devotion
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
“Work out your salvation” can sound like a demand to strain harder, try more, and prove yourself. We slow that phrase down with Pastor Robert Young and place it back where Paul puts it in Philippians 2:12-13: right next to the assurance that God is already at work in you. That single shift changes the whole feel of spiritual growth, from pressure and self-effort to trust and response.
We talk about what it means to work out what God is working in, not to work for salvation. God provides the desire, the truth, and the transformation. Our part is not to manufacture a new heart, but to participate in what grace is already doing by yielding, cooperating, and making choices that align with His help. We also explore a surprising idea: greater grace does not make us careless, it makes us responsive. We do not earn God’s help; we stop resisting it.
Along the way, we pause for a practical moment of reflection: where is God already working in your life, and what would cooperation look like instead of avoidance or resistance? We close with a simple prayer for courage to recognize God’s leading and say yes with willing surrender. If you want a clear, grounded take on sanctification, surrender, and Christian transformation, press play. Subscribe, share this with a friend who feels stuck, and leave a review so more people can find the show.

Scripture And Today’s Focus
Pastor Robert YoungWe we will be talking about what the hell today is coming from the book of Philippians chapter two verses twelve where it says Work out your salvation for your in the family. But it is God who works in you. The apostle Paul is not telling us to work for salvation. He's telling us to work out what God is already working for in us. God provides the desire the truth and the transformation. We simply respond by yielding or cooperating yet and allowing choices with his health. Greater doesn't make us harder. Greater makes us a response. We don't earn God's health. We simply stop resisting it. Our role is not to produce a transformation, but our role is to participate in it. Let's take three minutes to reflect on the following question. Where is God already working in your life? And how can you cooperate with Him instead of resisting or ignoring His help? And I choose to respond with willing surrender. Again, God is working in me, and I choose to respond with willing surrender. Our closing prayer. Heavenly Father, thank you for working in us. Teach us to recognize your help and respond to it. Show me where you are leading and give me the courage to say yes. Lord, I don't want to resist your grace. I want to walk in it for Christ's sake. Amen.
