Growing Closer to God with Guided Meditation
Welcome to the new season of the podcast, now titled "Growing Closer to God with Guided Meditation"!
Join your host, Pastor Robert Young, as we embark on a journey of spiritual exploration and renewal. This podcast is designed to help you deepen your faith and find inner peace through calming, reflective, and transformative meditative practices inspired by scripture.
Our Evolution
While the podcast, formerly known as Not Your Parent's Religion, focused in Seasons 1 and 2 on correcting misinformation and myths about religious beliefs and the teaching of Jesus Christ, the program has evolved. In Season 3, we began drawing closer to God with guided meditations, exploring all the details of why and how to meditate, and discussing the Biblical origins of Christian meditations.
With over 30 years of experience in Church planting and mentoring other Pastors, and 30+ years of training leaders in evangelism/discipleship, Pastor Young is here to guide you through these moments of stillness and connection with God.
What to Expect in Season 4
We are excited to return with Season 4 starting Sunday, October 5. We will continue to offer a structured weekly schedule:
- Sundays: Our weekly guided meditation episode.
- Monday through Friday: Daily devotions and reflections that expand on the topic of the Sunday meditations.
- Wednesdays: Audio episodes of our House Church series. This series reflects the Bible's teaching that believers should gather together for corporate worship, fellowship, encouragement, and even admonishment.
For those seeking an enhanced experience, we are adding video versions of the meditations and devotions to our Patreon page. These videos are designed to give you a more immersive experience as you meditate on the Father, His teachings, and His presence.
Tune in each week as we lead you on this path to connecting more deeply with God.

Renew Your Mind Day 6 | More Than Personal Renewal
What if a changed life is the clearest message of hope someone will hear today? We explore 2 Corinthians 5:17–18 and unpack the bold claim that becoming a new creation is more than personal renewal—it’s a call to participate in reconciliation. With clear, practical language, we trace how old patterns give way to a new identity and how that identity naturally overflows into everyday relationships, choices, and conversations that point back to grace.
We talk about transformation you can see: the slow mending of fractured habits, the courage to forgive, and the steady witness of integrity. Instead of lofty slogans, we focus on what people actually notice—consistency, humility, and the willingness to credit God for real change. You’ll hear why your story matters as living proof of healing and restoration, and how a life aligned with mercy becomes a public signpost that says, “New beginnings are possible.” We frame this calling through the lens of reconciliation, not as pressure to fix people, but as an invitation to show up, listen well, and help others find their way toward hope.
To make it concrete, we offer two reflection prompts: Who in your life needs to know that fresh starts are real, and how can your story encourage someone this week? We close with a short prayer asking God to keep our hearts open, to guard us from hoarding grace, and to use our lives as bridges rather than walls. If you’re ready to live as an ambassador of new life—clear, kind, and courageous—this message will give you language, focus, and a next step.
If this encouraged you, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review so more people can find these messages.

Today's scripture is coming from the book of Second Corinthians chapter 5 verse 17 and 18. Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away. Behold, all things are become new, reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation. Every therefore is therefore a reason. Why did God make you a new creation? It wasn't just for your benefit. Verse eighteen tells us the purpose reconciliation. You were made new so you could show the world what God looks like. You are living proof that God heals, restores, and transforms. Your new life is a billboard for God's grace. You have a purpose to be an ambassador of this new life to others. Questions for reflection. One Who in your life needs to know that new beginnings are possible? Two, how can your story of transformation encourage someone else this week? Pray this prayer with me now. Heavenly Father, thank you for trusting me with this new life. Don't let me hoard this grace. Use my transformation to bring hope to others. Let my life be a bridge that helps others find their way back to you. In Jesus' name. Amen.
