Growing Closer to God with Guided Meditation
Welcome to the new season of the podcast, now titled "Growing Closer to God with Guided Meditation"!
Join your host, Pastor Robert Young, as we embark on a journey of spiritual exploration and renewal. This podcast is designed to help you deepen your faith and find inner peace through calming, reflective, and transformative meditative practices inspired by scripture.
Our Evolution
While the podcast, formerly known as Not Your Parent's Religion, focused in Seasons 1 and 2 on correcting misinformation and myths about religious beliefs and the teaching of Jesus Christ, the program has evolved. In Season 3, we began drawing closer to God with guided meditations, exploring all the details of why and how to meditate, and discussing the Biblical origins of Christian meditations.
With over 30 years of experience in Church planting and mentoring other Pastors, and 30+ years of training leaders in evangelism/discipleship, Pastor Young is here to guide you through these moments of stillness and connection with God.
What to Expect in Season 4
We are excited to return with Season 4 starting Sunday, October 5. We will continue to offer a structured weekly schedule:
- Sundays: Our weekly guided meditation episode.
- Monday through Friday: Daily devotions and reflections that expand on the topic of the Sunday meditations.
- Wednesdays: Audio episodes of our House Church series. This series reflects the Bible's teaching that believers should gather together for corporate worship, fellowship, encouragement, and even admonishment.
For those seeking an enhanced experience, we are adding video versions of the meditations and devotions to our Patreon page. These videos are designed to give you a more immersive experience as you meditate on the Father, His teachings, and His presence.
Tune in each week as we lead you on this path to connecting more deeply with God.

Welcome to this guided meditation on, "You Can Do All Things With God. Our main scripture is coming from the book of Ephesians, chapter 3, verse 20. But first let's enter into worship by focusing on Psalms 100, verse 4, where it tells us to enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. Take a moment to lift up your voice in praise and thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father, who is worthy of all honor and glory.
Pastor Robert Young:Before we start to reflect on the scriptures, let's get more centered, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, inviting the presence of God to surround you. Now take a few deep breaths in for a count of seven. Hold the breath for a count of five and slowly exhale for a count of seven. Repeat the exercise.
Pastor Robert Young:Let's begin our muscle relaxation exercise by simply tensing each muscle group for three seconds and then releasing the muscle. Remember, don't hold your breath for this portion of the meditation. Begin with the calves, calves lightly Lightly tense the calf muscles for a count of three and release. Moving upward to the hamstrings, quads and glutes, lightly tense for three seconds and release. Moving to the chest and back areas, Lightly tense for three seconds and release. Finally, moving to the arms and shoulders, . lightly Lightly tense these muscle groups for three seconds and release.
Pastor Robert Young:Let's begin to think about Ephesians, chapter 3, verse 20, which says, Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us. Allow these words to sink deep into your heart. Visualize yourself standing in a vast field, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Imagine, with God's help, being able to forgive that person that hurt you, or loving the unlovable, and so much more. Now take a moment to think about your own desires and prayers. Surrender them to God and acknowledge that his plans for you are far greater than what you could ever imagine. Focus on the power that is at work within you. Remember that, as a child of God, you have his spirit living inside of you, empowering you to do all things through Christ, who strengthens you, as the scripture states in Philippians, chapter 4, verse 13.
Pastor Robert Young:Let go of any doubts or fears that may be holding you back and trust in the promise of Ephesians 3.20. That he granted to you and him going beyond those abilities. This makes your abilities immeasurable. Repeat this affirmation every day for the next seven days. "I trust in the Lord's endless possibilities and believe that he can do so much more than all I can ask or even imagine. Again, I trust in the Lord's endless possibilities and believe that he can do so much more than all I can ask or even imagine, or even imagine.
Pastor Robert Young:As we conclude this meditation, take the next 60 seconds and thank God for His power and provision, trust in His timing and remain steadfast in your faith. Remember that he is able to do far more abundantly than all that you ask or can even imagine. Amen.
